Mr. Anselm Perera is a Fellow of the Institute of Financial Studies (Chartered Institute of Bankers), UK. He was a Senior Banker in Oman, bringing over 39 years of international banking experience with a rich knowledge of the Middle East and Sri Lankan Markets. He started his banking career in 1971 with National & Grindlay’s Bank Ltd, Sri Lanka. In 1975 he joined HSBC Oman (then known as the British Bank of Middle East – BBME). He was a strategic member of the Management Team of HSBC Oman, which was responsible for developing the Bank from its manual systems in the seventies to become the best automated bank in the Sultanate in 2008.
He was the Deputy CEO (DCEO) of HSBC Oman, from 2001 to 2008 which is the top-most post in the field of banking held by any Sri Lankan residing in Oman. In addition to being the DCEO, he has been the Head of all the functional areas of HSBC in Oman; Chief Operating Officer, GM Corporate Banking, GM Retail Banking & Wealth Management and GM Human Resources, which is a very unique achievement in anyone’s banking career.

During his 45 years in Oman Anselm has involved himself in several community service activities and held various posts in honorary capacities:

Treasurer, the British School, Salalah, Oman 1983-1985
Outside of his banking career he has successfully promoted bilateral trade between Sri Lanka and Oman.
